Since when are public projects undertaken to benefit the people in Malaysia? You have the legion of parasitic, politically connected contractors swarming to their political masters for the juicy bits.

And even then, the projects get subbed, and subbed, and subbed……….and the people end up getting shoddy pieces of work! How much money was wasted when, after spending billions, all we get are useless, cracking supports for highways!

All this talk about pouring money into public transport is just sheer nonsense. Where I used to live, thousands of cars head to the industrial heartland of Selangor for work, and yet there is not a single bus line connecting a vast residential area directly to the work place. You have to go all the way down to town, and then change buses again.

How much sense does that make? Oh……….ok, in that way the bus companies (controlled by you know who) get to make more profits huh……….Even when companies like Intrakota and Cityliner get to monopolize the bus routes, they are making losses! I don't know how one does it, but one must be damn 'smart' to get a monopoly and still lose money!

Are we going to let them navigate this nation to disaster?

While the people are sound asleep, the robbers are having a field day. Of course, both the people and the government will learn their lessons, when it is too late.

By the time they wake up from the slumber, the world would have gone far from our reach, thanks to a government (and controlled by Umno) more interested in driving posh cars, living in posh bungalows and pushing for laws that will endow them with additional mistresses and wives. But when you try to tell them something to bring them to their senses, they get angry.

Look at Samy Velu, Ong Ka Ting, Lim Keng Yaik - do they all look like saving this country? They want to save their wealth and continue robbing the country and at the same time laughing at our naivety.

No NEP version is going to succeed if the majority of the wealth is going to get redistributed to only politically connected people.

Talking about the scenic bridge, why the urgency in building this bridge? The nation has more important matters to deal with than building a crooked bridge! But I guess the (politically connected) contractors are getting impatient.

If work does not start, they are not getting money, are they? There we go again! It does not matter if at the end, the bridge gets nowhere, as long as the contractors get the job done, they get their money. To hell with the people!

Every day we are bombarded with uncontrollable outbursts from angry people in the streets who are both fed up with the lack of deliveries by the civil service, corporations, GLCs and even local councils.

You and many commentators both in the forum and others, have often time expressed both anger and frustrations, and eventually brewed into bitterness due to lack of progress and responses to our complaints and occasional outbursts.

We are definitely no lack of advisers, armchair managers, armchair supervisors, consultants, experts on papers, etc, etc. What we need and urgently need are hands-on manager, people of action, people who can get the job done.

The jumbo size cabinet is but a musical chair for spinning the 'avoidance' of responsibilities.

My business experiences have convinced me that the difference between spending and earning is not only huge but it is heaven and hell. In any organisation, it requires extraordinary tenacity to earn and sustain earnings over time when people around you are addicted to spending.

I know a number of outstanding young civil servants and heads of GLCs. These guys know what they are talking about and are very hands-on. But there is too much political interference in their work.

The outspoken ones are marginalized, removed or have resigned because of poison pen letters and scapegoat. The smart ones, unlike cream, never rise to the top.

Most people lobby hard for their jobs and are after the perks and privileges of high office, but they forget the responsibility and accountability bit. They should be properly remunerated for their work and rewarded for performance.

Why we can't we make such types the norm, rather than the exception? Unfortunately because of politics, we have a situation in our country which can aptly described as 'politics, politics, politics' - too much of it. We are now constipated with it.

Getting to the top, in my personal experience, is the simple part of a professional man's career progression, but staying at the top is most challenging, especially in Malaysia where politics is everything. Poison pen letters - beware!

Shames, shames, shames! We shall always remember that Malaysia citizens is the one who had established such a corrupted administration in the past 30 years from the coffee money to the cop - up to the bribery to the US administration.

So deep rooted the damage in instilling the bribery as a culture such that no wonder Pak Lah and gang find it so difficult to disentangle.

People life is getting more and more difficult and yet all the parasites and cronies still need to be fed. What country is this go? It is truly amazing to know there are so many crooks in our govt. From the very top to the very bottom there are crooks.

The sky is full of black crows and a couple of white crows if any exist, they will be pecked to death. The white crows hence have to watch their backs alertly.

Pak Lah has at times to nod his head as the saying goes, "If you can't fight them, you join them; for survival." What can we do, we taxpayers are the losers. We are advised to change our life style to suit their stupidity or rather greed.

Unfortunately, in the growing global economy, this would devolution and we'd be left far behind. We are behind already, with companies like MAS and Proton and white elephants like the crook bridge and Putrajaya.

Essentially, we have to accept that the Chinese and Indians, and even Malays, who have the opportunity to leave the country, will partly due to the government's policies. You can either change it and attempt to stem the outflow, or accept it and attempt to evolve.

Someone I know is somewhere outside London now, trying to lay the foundation for a better future. He is a Malaysian Chinese just like me. He has just relayed to me his thoughts and concerns about how this future will unfold.

I feel his anxiety, I know it. What is it about Malaysia which drives its people away, to rebuild something which has taken years to successfully create, in Malaysia?

My point? I don't know if given the current rate of development in Malaysia, there would soon be introduced malay quota for parking spaces. Or places for overseas education even. I don't know.

I often think these mongrels are capable of the most stupid and unfair policies, as decades of policies have proven. Yes, it is painful but I guess Malaysians who are tired of fighting stupid battles like these will go, to save their future generations from strives.

At least someone spoke up my thoughts. I thought I am the only person with the sentiment……….MCA and Gerakan spoke about the racial integrity and contentment that we felt which is totally untrue.

I believe, there is no protest over this treatment of us as second class citizens as everyone lives in the shadow of 13 May 1969 disaster, clouded over by the brutal murder in Indonesia of ethnic Chinese not too far off.

As far as I can see, all policy and laws are meant to benefit only the malays, and not the bumis (other natives like in Sabah and Sarawak) as whole.

Call like asking Chinese to join the army or the government to be more patriotic, I see no reason as there is a limit to the career progression, and no reason for a 'second class citizen' to commit more than what we believe we should.

The thing is where in the world has this kind of policy to restrict and no equal to their citizens to do any business even though we pay a tax!

Following, although having many tall skyscrapers and other mega projects, while driving in the city at traffic light, I see malays open their car door to spit or to throw rubbish out of their car window in the middle of the traffic jam.

In fast food centre, I see their little dirty bustards stomping on the table like it is their house while their ignorant malay parents chat on. It is a sore eyes and ironic these so-called 'civlised native and owner' of the malay land……….it is a sad sad world.

If by this tax we are feeding you malay, I better feeding a dog rather than you that don't understand, at the end like in Indonesia, that they are thinking they can do better but they don't even know how the real history and the process come from in first.

We are not talking racist here. We are talking how the government is doing not fair things and equal to our Malaysians that we talking about even anything we do be tax by government.

If you are our prime minister, sure long ago our Malaysia is worst than Indonesia because of people like you are racist than us, even you not really know where are the resources really come from who the more and most.

Oh by the way……….I remind that our government has implemented a plan to recall our talents who work in overseas to come home……….they give them tax exemption……….APs to bring their cars back blah blah blah. Can anyone tell me how many of them are still working here?

Answer: 1! (Not sure he also ran back to the country he served.)

And bear in mind there are our malays in there, ok? So it is not the matter of racist or what - simply because of the shitty policies.

Well finally someone knows my two reasons why Malaysia fails.

The first reason, I have pointed that is 'business should be run by businessman and government being run by politician', Malaysia fails because 'politicians are running the business'.

The second reason Malaysia fails is 'the government should not have a religion'. People have religion, not the government or country.

I am looking for the opportunity to go out of this country.

As a post-independence-born Malaysian, I would like to offer my thoughts on Article 153 of the federal constitution which mentions the special position of the malays. Please note that there is no mention of the words 'special rights' or 'special privileges' in the constitution.

For too long, there has been a lack of understanding of what our forefathers had in mind when they included this clause in our much talked about social contract. To gain a better understanding, let us take a trip back in time to 1957 to actually visualise the scene then.

In a scenario where the immigrant Chinese and Indians were seeking citizenship rights in Malaysia, it is reasonable to presume that they would have had to understand and acknowledge the difficulties faced by the majority malays.

And this is where the meaning of the words 'special position' comes into focus. What did our forefathers mean by the special position of the malays? Did they mean that the malays would enjoy a higher status than all the other races? Did they mean that the malays would have special rights and privileges in perpetuity?

If this is what our forefathers had intended, then our constitution would have mentioned this specifically. However, the constitution or social contract does not say so.

What then, could the words 'special position' mean? It is reasonable to infer that our forefathers were concerned first by the fact that the malays were left behind economically despite being the indigenous majority in the country.

Secondly, they were concerned by the fact that, despite being immigrants, the Chinese and a small segment of the Indian community were relatively much better off.

The clause was therefore more so of an acknowledgment by the non-malays of the disadvantageous economic situation of the malays. The consideration given by the former to the latter when entering into the social contract for citizenship rights was to agree to provide some measure of support for the malays to improve their economic standing.

If our forefathers had meant for these preferences to last in perpetuity, then there would not have been a request for a review in 15 years.

When I see the compulsory requirement for non-malay companies to hand over a certain portion of their equity to the malays for no input at all, I am tempted to ask: Is this what our forefathers had in mind? I can go on listing the abuses forever because there are plenty of them.

It is intriguing to hear senior BN and Umno leaders repeatedly asking the people to adhere to the social contract. What contract they are referring to? It cannot be the federal constitution. It is most probably some contract that they have entered into unilaterally without the agreement of the non-malays.

So it seems to be incorrect to firstly equate the words 'special position' with 'special rights and privileges'. Secondly, it also seems incorrect to suggest that the malays have special rights and privileges in perpetuity and, therefore, that they have a higher status than everyone else.

The non-malays only agreed to allow them preferences over the others for a finite period of time. It has now been almost 50 years since independent but has such a meaningful review of those preferences taken place at all? Absolutely not.

In fact what has happened is that successive BN governments, dominated by Umno, and especially after the 1969 tragedy, have taken the liberty to very liberally interpret Article 153. This has led to the wholesale abuse of the consideration provided by the non-malays in 1957 for their citizenship rights.

It seems to me that the real social contract of 1957 was torn up long ago by the BN government with the way in which the NEP was implemented from the 1970s onwards.

To me, the real social contract of 1957 has long been dead. I hope the day will come when the people of Malaysia in the true independent spirit will make it live again.

Then perhaps, we would not have to spend hundreds of millions of ringgit on nonsensical projects like the National Service to inculcate unity amongst the races.

If Malaysia has to push forward, they have to rebuild their political system to ensure that discrimination can never ferment in Malaysia.

I personally think that Malaysia is heading to a dead end, where it will meet Indonesia. Both of them might have taken separate ways, but the navigator (government) shares the exact same blood, teaching and thinking.

This Malaysia country is along the way of 48 years of independence has sideline the basic foundation of our government. Won't be surprise that many of our ministers do not even understand our constitution yet even knowing the Rukun Negara.

The purpose of Article 153 of the constitution and the National Economic Policy was to protect the interests of the bumis, in the fields of civil service, public education and public scholarships, as well as empower them economically.

Has this policy translated into tangible benefits for the non-malay bumi communities in Sabah and Sarawak? Not yet, if the economic disparity and the income figures, between the rich Chinese timber tycoons and their malay sidekicks are anything to go by.

We have double standards everywhere. One for the Umno and one for the non-Umno, I weep for the fools who think that their minister is fighting for their right. With every RM1 they give to you, they are taking RM100 away from your kids. Your son will grow up to become suicide bombers, trust me. Because they will think that the West robbed them.

Long-name Isa got kick off of the club for corruption, he was never prosecuted in court. Long-name Osu gambled millions away, in debt and nothing happens. The Rafidah-APs scandal? Last I heard she is still a minister.

Conclusion? We have a bunch of criminals in the parliament, and guess who is the head?

Well, you know what they say. Power corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely - given the chance, should he not watch himself, any politician (or most) would abandon his mission for money and status.

But anyways, it is sad to see the state of the modern Malaysia. I for one believe that Malaysians are very talented, and we can literally take the world by storm. If only we were given the chance and the support to do so!

Being an undergraduate, I have been advised time and time again by my elders, that if it were possible, attain a job oversea (currently in Australia). And don't come back. Except for holiday and the food.

But I still would really like to see its betterment. Fine, perhaps not in my lifetime.

My honest advise to my fellow countryman, no matter what race you are, save enough money and emigrate. You are doing yourself and your future generation a big favour.

Goodbye Malaysia. I guess there is no longer hope for a better country as long as it is a Muslim country and is governed by the ever corrupted malay system. They suck big time.

The Malaysia leadership is myopic. They want quick results. Quality is secondary. Not only that, they undermine quality if they have to. Why do you think they introduced Matriculation? Every student, parent and ministry official knows why it is popular, but would be in a state of denial if challenged.

The objective is to produce as many malay graduates as possible. If it means lowering the standards so more malays may enter university and graduate, so be it. Now the leadership has the cheek to complain that graduates are unemployable. What do they expect? You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know this.

Mediocrity is the norm now in our schools and universities because of this purposeful compromise on quality for the sake of quantity. This 'disease' has also spread to the non-malays. They don't have to work as hard to do well due to the lower standards, giving a false illusion that success is easy. Eventually this 'disease' becomes a drag on society and Malaysians will become uncompetitive, lacking perseverance and hard work.

All because of our Malaysia education system. Soon we will have Malaysian graduates working as maids in foreign lands. Again the same complain from the hierarchy. Our graduates are unemployable. It is convenient to blame the graduates.

By all means, give opportunities to those who should be helped. But also let them know that quality and standards will not be compromised. Help can become a 'disease' if we are not careful. Worst still, it becomes an expectation.

Much as I respect the new higher education minister, I doubt the political system will allow him to do what is right.

I hate to think how our homegrown graduates would stack up against those in other countries. Therein lies the future of Malaysia in the emerging globalised economic world. If the recent drop in rankings of our universities is anything to go by, one could envision what Malaysia would be like economically in the not too distant future.

There is no lack of awareness, only political will. Simple as that!

The governmennt, and particularly Umno, has got it wrong. With its perpetuated illusionary motivation, it has laid bare the future of the younger generation. In the process, it got itself shot in the foot. In a desperate attempt to 'catch-up' it is coming up with dubious policies.

I feel truly sad indeed. There was a time when we were well recognised and respected. A growing nation should have a population eager and thirsty for knowledge but I don't see it. Except for the few who get guidance from within the family, most have developed a culture of 'tidak apa' state of mind. With such many attitudes, we will only be at 'normal' speed or worse, at regressive speed.

Despite the optimism those in power wish to exuberate, I see a defeated and doomed populace, except for the few lucky who are able to send their children overseas despite preaching the virtue of local education. Should I say that the flock deserve for 'sleeping' and when they are supposed to make the difference, they are pathetically sleeping away their future.

Let us, the educated and the informed, clear the smoke screen created by the self-centered politicians (past and present) and move forward to lift ourselves off the onslaught of erred policies.

I wouldn't mind producing a post or elaborating on some of the subjects you write regarding here. Again, awesome weblog!
